Zebra Mildliners Review
If you’ve been browsing the instagram study gram community, one thing is almost certain to come up…the zebra mildliners. Available in a range of aesthetic pastel colours they are the perfect complement to any set of notes. In this review I am going to swatch them, test them and then rate them out of 5 before giving them my final verdict.
OVERVIEW
The zebra milliners are available in 5 different packs in a total of 25 shades ranging from pastel to fluorescent . They are double ended with you typical chisel tip at one end and a bullet tip at the other. Although this may be useful for bullet journalling, I don’t really tend to use this end much as I find that this end does tend to get worn down quickly, however if you are light handed you may be able to avoid this from happening.
SWATCHES
When swatching these pens I really liked the wide range of colours and how the tones are quite muted, something that I look for in highlighters as I don’t like the traditional fluorescent colours. I find that these highlighters pair really well with the fineliners that I have which allows me to perfectly colour code my notes
WILL IT SMUDGE?
I carried out a smudge test on these highlighters to test their compatibility with different types of ink. I used a range of different pen types from fineliners to my go to pentel energel pen and the results varied. I found that with finalisers the milliners caused the ink to smudge and bleed as with most other gel pens even after 10 minutes. The pentel energel ink did not smudge after 10 minutes but did smudge if you highlighted straight away. The final type of pen I tested was ball point pen where unlike the other pens I tested the ink did not smudge after 1 minute. This suggests that the mildliners only really work with certain inks so I would make sure that your pens are compatible before you buy them or even highlight the area before you write if you want to use them.
FINAL IMPRESSIONS
Overall I really like the wide range of colours that the mildliners come in as they have one of the largest pastel colour palettes available on the market right now but the way that they smudge with certain pen types is a slight disadvantage. However, due to the versatility of these pens I am able to look over this to an extent which is why I’m giving the zebra milliners a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5!
